Pasqueflowers are believed to grow where Viking blood was spilt, the sites in England where they survive are often ancient sites that have been protected from agriculture. These Pasqueflowers are growing on the Devil's Dyke, a Saxon defensive ditch that was constructed 1300 years ago on what is now the Suffolk-Cambridgeshire border.
